展覽簡(jiǎn)介｜INTRODUCTION

展覽《超越三小時(shí)》的想法開(kāi)始于 2016 年林琳和延芬兩人最早的一次對(duì)話：雖生活在不同的國(guó)家，卻有著很多共同的話題，甚至在藝術(shù)的創(chuàng)作上都通過(guò)對(duì)食物的關(guān)注去展開(kāi)對(duì)生活的思考。其中包括對(duì)生活環(huán)境的感受，對(duì)食物和文化觀念的理解，以及對(duì)當(dāng)代數(shù)字媒體世界里的藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作與材料的使用等。

在隨后的一年中，林琳和延芬繼續(xù)著她們之間這樣的對(duì)話和交流，尤其是關(guān)于食物的感受和想法，但卻總是超越食品本身。她們發(fā)現(xiàn)她們各自做的藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作有著許多有趣的重疊，而這些重疊都在這次展覽中匯集在了一起。

展覽《超越三小時(shí)》便是對(duì)這些重疊的一種展現(xiàn)。對(duì)于林琳和延芬來(lái)說(shuō)，三小時(shí)是對(duì)話的時(shí)間；三小時(shí)是共享的記憶；三小時(shí)是文化背景的共識(shí)。在超越的對(duì)話中，兩者的觀點(diǎn)常常融合為一體，然后又重新變回兩者。這次的展覽，三小時(shí)的對(duì)話還在繼續(xù)著。

The idea of the exhibition “Transcending the Three Hours" came from the first dialogue between Lin Lin and Irene in early 2016. Although each had lived in different countries, they discovered that they easily conversed in many common topics, even to their respective art creation processes. One particular topic is food and its relationship to life. Other topics they share are feelings about the environment, understanding of food and culture, and using multi-media and different materials in their art works.

During the following year, Lin Lin and Irene continued their conversations and exchanges, especially with regard to the feelings and thoughts of food, but always surpassing the food itself. They find that there are many interesting overlaps in their artistic creations, and these overlaps are brought together in this exhibition.

“Transcending the Three Hours” is one representation of the overlap. For Lin Lin and Irene, the three hours is the time of conversations; the three hours is the shared memory; the three hours is the basic universal viewpoint of culture. In transcending, two viewpoints often merged into one, then became two again. In this exhibition, the three-hour conversations continue.

馬里蘭大學(xué)巴爾的摩郡分校視覺(jué)藝術(shù)設(shè)計(jì)系副教授

她的作品多以跨媒介形式呈現(xiàn)，從平面設(shè)計(jì)到行為表演，不同的表現(xiàn)語(yǔ)言融入她的創(chuàng)作中。她的個(gè)展和群展遍布世界各地的博物館和藝術(shù)空間，例如：紐約公共圖書(shū)館，紐約女王藝術(shù)博物館，英國(guó)泰特現(xiàn)代美術(shù)館，美國(guó)亞洲藝術(shù)中心，巴塞爾設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)院，舊金山美術(shù)館等。她的作品被多個(gè)國(guó)際藝術(shù)機(jī)構(gòu)收藏。

Irene Chan
Associate Professor in the Visual Art Department at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC)

Her work is multi-media, processes from graphic design to performance are all incorporated into her works. In her rich personal resume, you can see her solo and group exhibitions and work collected in international museums and art spaces such as the New York Public Library; The Queens Museum of Art, Queens, NY; Tate Modern, London, UK; Asian American Arts Centre, New York, NY; School of Design, Basel, Switzerland, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, etc.

廈門大學(xué)藝術(shù)學(xué)院設(shè)計(jì)系數(shù)字媒體專業(yè)副教授

在她的創(chuàng)作過(guò)程中，多以裝置、繪畫(huà)、攝影、影像等不同媒介進(jìn)行實(shí)驗(yàn)和探索，用概念和對(duì)生活的思考去解讀事物的關(guān)系，并以個(gè)人的體驗(yàn)去詮釋自己的哲學(xué)感悟。作品曾多次展出于國(guó)內(nèi)外博物館和藝術(shù)空間，例如：法國(guó)Crac Alsace藝術(shù)中心，荷蘭恩斯赫德RIJK，荷蘭De Appel當(dāng)代藝術(shù)中心，加拿大多倫多<藝術(shù)中心>，德國(guó)威爾藝術(shù)空間，美國(guó)巴爾的摩切薩皮克藝術(shù)中心，美國(guó)巴爾的摩創(chuàng)意聯(lián)盟藝術(shù)中心等。

Lin Lin
Associate Professor of Digital Media Art Major, Design Department at the Xiamen University.
In the process of her creation, she carried out various experiments and exploration in drawing, photography, video etc. With her concept and thinking of life to understand things, and personal experience to the interpretation of her philosophy of perception. Her solo and group exhibitions are present in museums and art space all over the world. Some examples are Le Printemps De Chine Crac Alsace Altkrich, France；Rijk Museum, Enschede, the Netherlands；De Appel (Contemporary Art Center), Amsterdam, the Netherlands； , Toronto, Canada.；Villa Weiner, Ochtrup, Germany；Chesapeake Arts Center, Baltimore, U.S.A；Baltimore Creative Alliance Gallery, U.S.A.
